The man has been MIA since Blue released last year. But Zayed Khan has been busier than ever, quietly doing his work, which also includes a cameo in Anjaana Anjaani. He had his reasons for going underground. ”I do not know if I want to dwell on my reasons. I am 30 now and men need to take time off,” he says with a smile. But it was not exactly down time for the actor as he was busy setting up his production house with ”Dee” [Dia Mirza]. ”I am very fond of Dia. Our sensibilities match. We will make contemporary love stories to begin with. I want to make movies that touch people. As an actor, it is very important to multi-task. You have to understand everything about film-making – from directing and editing to marketing the film. As Alfred Hitchcock said, `A film is a technical job`, ” states Zayed.

Zayed has two films lined up in the coming months. There is a situational comedy called Sharafat Gayi Tel Lene in which he plays a geek. ”That was a challenege. The director came to me and said,  `I cannot afford you, but would you do it?` I was impressed that he wanted me to play a geek when everyone else wants me in action films. There’s also Priyadarshan`s Tezz Bullet Train — an action drama with Ajay Devgan,” reveals Zayed khan.

When you get on the responsibility of being a brand ambassador it’s important to remain in mind a certain brand fit – he is a funky grundge dresser and Roxton envisions all that is trendy and forward cheering people who are style conscious and not style victims.

It started off being a cameo, but now it’s something else. I play Priyanka’s lover. It’s a modern-day triangle and my role is pivotal to the movie. Postponing the release was a great move as there was too much happening with the Commonwealth Games and the Babri Masjid verdict,” says Zayed.

He had his reasons for going subversive “I don’t know if I want to stay on my reasons. I’m 30 now and men need to take occasion off,” he says with a smile. My sensibilities will be given more importance in the films I produce. I have an intrinsic way of knowing what works. But I’m not here to tell anybody how movies work,” he maintains.
